Casino War: Episode 3

Myong Guk gives Hang Ah two options, either shoot Mu Yeong or he will send her to prison camp. Hang Ah chooses to go to prison camp, but surprisingly Mu Yeong comes and asked to be shot instead. Hang Ah eyes widen, can’t comprehend the situaton. Jeong Hak sweats a lot knowing that he’s in trouble if one of his subordinate dies. He wants to stop Mu Yeong but it seems Mu Yeong has made up his mind. Myong Guk smirks at them.

“What are you waiting for? Shoot him now!” Myong Guk orders Hang Ah.

She comes to Mu Yeong step by step with hesitation. Her right hand trembles while pointing the gun to him. He lets out a deep breath. She’s aiming the gun at his head, but unable to move her fingers. She finally closes her eyes and shoots.

But... nothing happens. Myong Guk claps at her enthusiastically, notes that the gun is without ammunition. Hang Ah is confused while Mu Yeong relieves from scare. He already scared that his life would end here.

“Quite impressive, Hang Ah,” Myong Guk says.

Hang Ah stares at his boss, then leaves, perplexed by his boss’ action. While Jeong Hak slaps Mu Yeong hard in the face.

“Are you crazy?? It’s not a joke, you can end up dead!” Jeong Hak screams to Mu Yeong.

Mu Yeong can only cast down his eyes on shame. He’s guilty of acting rash and in a haste. What can he do? In a minute, he feels like he should save and protect Hang Ah although he knows the consequences. Myong Guk notices the situation and smiles gleefully. He thinks his plan somehow works today. He orders the others to bring Oh Soo and Jin Sung back to basement then tuns to NIS team.

“Are you done here? No one’s injured right? Now, go out of this house!” Myong Guk tells them.
“But what will happen to Kim Hang...”
Jeong Hak silences Mu Yeong. Mu Yeong drives his crazy these past few days.
“I wonder too...” Myong Guk says suspiciously.

Jeong Hak orders his team to apologizes to Myong Guk and leave the house. He knows it’s not the best option, but for now he can’t be embarassed by the North any further. Mu Yeong still wonders, but agrees to leave the house.

Mu Yeong starts the car engines, but then a nagging feeling comes to haunt him. He hesitates for a while, then he stops the car and runs quickly into the house and to the basement. Jeong Hak doesn’t stop him and only waits faithfully inside the car. He hears Myong Guk yells and someone murmurs. The basement is so dark and the light is only from the rooms above.

He comes just in time while Myong Guk points the gun to Hang Ah. Mu Yeong senses the danger and jumps in front of her, just in time when a bullet scratches his left arm and he yells in pain. He can’t think clearly and just asks Hang Ah to runs outside, there’s Jeong Hak to helps her. Hang Ah looks at him tearfully, says sorry to him. She runs outside and finds Jeong Hak, now in the driver seat, inside the car. She tells Jeong Hak that Mu Yeong is still inside the house, but he doesn’t react, only his eyes look at her.

Mu Yeong holds his injured left arm, now bloodied. He tells Myong Guk to just kill him so he doesn’t bother Hang Ah.

“What can I say? It’s even more fun when feelings involved, isn’t it?” Myong Guk tells him.

Mu Yeong runs out of patience and strangle his neck.

“Do you think human lives is a joke? Listen carefully, I won’t just quietly allow you to do anything to her. Get her back to North safely or leave her alone!”
“Do you think I just comply to anything you said?”
“If you wish to die in my hands, just do anything you want. But I will haunt you forever.”

Myong Guk can clearly see Mu Yeong’s eyes on fire. He flinches a bit and touches his chin, assessing the situation. He finally gives in, stating he will never bother her if that’s Mu Yeong’s wish. Now he demands Hang Ah back, he will keep his promise to Mu Yeong. Mu Yeong agrees and goes outside to meet Hang Ah.

He finds Hang Ah inside the car and tells his story. Hang Ah asks Jeong Hak if there’s first aid kit and Jeong Hak gives her the kit inside the dashboard. Hang Ah rolls Mu Yeong sleeve and without a word she treats his wound. Mu Yeong says she needs to go back soon. She shushes him and still treats him carefully. Mu Yeong stares at her and silently cries. Hang Ah looks up at him and asks if he’s crying. He hurriedly wipes his tears and brushes off her question. She touches his face and cries while saying sorry because he injured himself to save her. Mu Yeong touches her face too, his feeling is too overwhelming.

“I don’t regret it. Because I love you,” he says.

He then kisses her and she kisses him back. The two share passionate and deep kiss. Tears trickled down their faces as if it’s their last time together.

“Aissh, being third wheel is bothersome... I wish I could see my wife tonight,” Jeong Hak comments on them.

He pulls back from her and smile, despite his eyes look so sad. She smiles back at him and glares at Jeong Hak. She then says goodbye and enters the house again.

Jeong Hak drives the car to downtown Macau and notices Mu Yeong still touches his lips while looking outside the car.

"Ultimately, the thing that kills or saves a person is not a gun or a knife, but a heart of a person," Jeong Hak tells him.
“What are you saying, Boss?”
“What I was saying? Do I need to repeat anything? Aigoo, you only ask for trouble, young man.”

Mu Yeong smiles a bit, Macau looks like heaven in front of him now. He just doesnt want to have this feeling disappeared. He prays for Hang Ah’s safety, even when he can’t stay beside her.

“But Boss, how about the casino deal?” Mu Yeong asks his boss to distract himself.
“What casino deal?”
“The case, the suspects, everything. How some we just casually allow North to take care of things?”
“There’s no such thing of casino crime. The two suspects, Oh Soo and Lee Gun have connections with North. As you know Lee Gun is NK secret agent while Oh Soo’s father is political activist from North. We actually plan to catch them so we can investigate about their connections. But you stupidly just hand them over to North Korea team,” Jeong Hak explains.
“But you never said Hang Ah is also double agent in our team.”
“Do I need to tell you every single thing? What’s the point of your training?”

Mu Yeong listens attentively to Jeong Hak. He feels like he’s just a naive guy, even tough he already passed the exam to be secret agent. He then asks what’s their plan since their targets is on NK team. Jeong Hak tells him to think with his brain and come up with solution. It’s almost impossible to catch them again, seeing that Myong Guk is the NK team leader.

While Myong Guk comes across Hang Ah and greets her with smile. She looks at him suspiciously. He rubs his hands and tries to supress himself from looking weird. Finally he opens his mouth.

“Well, I know I was wrong. I’m sorry. I promised to Mu Yeong. You can go to him tomorrow,” Myong Guk tells her.
“Really? That easy?” she questions him.

He doesn’t look to her directly. He stares to the ceiling. His voice changes and it becomes soften. He will really let her go to Mu Yeong if it’s her wish. She tries to understand him, but senses something is off. He brushes aside her concern and tells her to sleep.

Jeong Hak comes across to an average budget hotel. He tells Mu Yeong to just sleep tonight and find the solution tomorrow. Mu Yeong enters his room, but he can’t sleep. He looks at his watch and it’s already midnight. He washes his face and looks at his reflection.

“A man and a woman who shouldn’t fall in love with each other. But they fall in love instead, despite age, nations and different ideologies,” he tells himself and sighs.

Next morning Hang Ah wakes up on her bed, still in the safehouse. She eats breakfast, ready on the table. Myong Guk tells her that he prepares a car for her, she can drive wherever she wants as long as it’s still in Macau. Hang Ah thanks him and drives the car. She still thinks something is weird with Myong Guk who suddenly becomes nice, too nice even.

When Hang Ah leaves, Myong Guk calls Mu Yeong and tells him that she’s on her way. His voice is hoarse. Mu Yeong tells him that he will take care of her from now on. Myong Guk says it’s betrayal to his country, but Mu Yeong doesn’t care.

“Call me back when you have saved her,” Myong Guk says and then ends the call.

Mu Yeong feels something odd and finds her through GPS. Thankfully her GPS is working and he follows her. She drives carefully and when she’s near red light, she slows down the car but the brake is already broken. She can’t stop the car and senses the danger.

But it’s too late. The car swerves, but it’s too late to avoid collision with other cars. She hits a truck and spins into a tree. Mu Yeong is a step too late to save her. He comes to the car, blood everywhere and Hang Ah limps in the driver seat. Mu Yeong hugs her and cries. He quickly asks people to call ambulance and police. He wails while holding her who’s unconscious.
