Empress Ki 2: Episode 70 (Final Episode)

Paeha is concerned for Mamanim’s health. He suggests to Mamanim to check with royal doctor. Mamanim is hesitant but eventually agrees. Mamanim is examined by the doctor. While Paeha waiting outside impatiently. A while later, Mamanim finishes the examination. She's out to meet Paeha.

 

Paeha: "Let me hug you first before you say anything. Are you really okay?"
Mamanim: "But Paeha, you don't need to. I'm fine."
Paeha: "What does the doctor say?"
Mamanim: " I'm not pregnant...."
Paeha: "What? So are you really ill?"
Mamanim: "Well, the doctor say, it's common for woman around my age. My period is stopped now."

Paeha's face falls, he's a bit disappointed. But he says otherwise. He wants Nyangie to always healthy. Mamanim nods in agreement.

Mamanim then tells Paeha that they're really just focus on Ayu, TilTil and their twins. As Ayu and TilTil are newlyweds they need to take care of them.

Paeha calls Ayu and TilTil to his chamber. He tells if they want honeymoon outside the palace they may do so. But they need to take care of themselves. As of Mamanim, she plays with Ai and Aya but Mamanim can't keep herself to her two girls. She's so tired just by playing around.

Paeha is in the throne hall, he makes some announcements. First, Ayu as Crown Prince will take the throne soon. He wants to retire and enjoy the life with Mamanim and twin girls. Second, Paeha actually wants to make Jeongjo as his advisor but Jeongjo declines it.

Jeongjo just wants to go back to his kingdom, Paeha agrees. Jeongjo actually wants to erase Paeha and Mamanim from his mind. He goes back to his kingdom with new resolution to meet new love. He doesn't need to wait so long. He falls in love with his own step grandmother who actually around his age, whom he describes as the most beautiful woman.

Same as Jeongjo, Hwon also goes back to Goryeo and heals his heart after rejected by TilTil. While Jeongjo falls in love with older woman, playboy Hwon dates much younger woman, Yi Hwa. They usually meet secretly at the market or fields. One day Hwon and Yi Hwa take a walk in the fields. They really love each other. Hwon even hugs her.

But too bad, Yi Hwa's orabeoni comes riding horse and bring a gun. He won't allow much older man like Hwon to date Yi Hwa who only 15 years old.

Poor Hwon who threatened by gun. He chooses to leave with his heart break into pieces. Because he always experience pain and heartbreak, Hwon doesn't believe in love anymore. He becomes more playboy and visit gisaeng house to entertain himself.

Hwon gets home late and very drunk. While on drunken state, he sees Jeongjo and his step grandmother get down into ohlala. Hwon can't believe in what he sees, but then he remembers Jeongjo and the grandmother is just two people thrown away by fate. They don't have blood relations and Jeongjo's grandfather and father are passed away since long time.

While on Shilla Kingdom, Bidam and Seondeok are preparing for another war. It's not against Yuan or Goryeo but against their own rebels. They want Yuan to help them but Paeha can't promise anything.

Paeha and Mamanim are just too busy enjoying life, like playing mahjong.

But Paeha is tired from playing mahjong all day and suggests Mamanim to take a hot bath together.

 

 

 

 

 

Paeha begs to experience ohlala underwater but Mamanim rejects it and leaves him.
But of course Mamanim won't leave Paeha alone. She wants to surprise him.

Meanwhile after honeymoon, Ayu tells Paeha that TilTil is pregnant. Happy news for everyone.

Flash forward to 7 years later. Ayu and TilTil have a son, named Gyungwon. Like his father, he also likes to overhear people conversation. But he's so cute and handsome.

While Ai and Aya are also grown up now. But they have very different personality and lifestyle.
Ai is carefree and style herself like a boy. She also sometimes careless and just do what she really wants. She likes to hang out in Royal Painting Academy because she likes to draw and paint, just like Paeha.

While Aya is more feminine and reserved. She doesn't like to show her feelings and likes to stay quiet unless necessary. She's more thoughtful like Mamanim. Although she has a boyfriend, she doesn't really show her love, just like her mother.

"Like mother, like daughter"

Now it's time for Paeha to retire. He doesn't need anything else. He already has everything he wants. He will give the throne to Ayu and arrange marriages for the twins. What he really wants now is just a peaceful life with Mamanim.

Paeha: "Nyangie-ah, I feel empty now because I will give the throne soon. I'll no longer an emperor, but just a man who loves you and my family."
Mamanim: "Paeha, you already did many wonderful things. Now rest up, our children are grown up. It's time to retire."
Paeha: "Please help me to detach the crown."
Mamanim: "Will do Paeha."

Ayushiridara becomes the new Yuan emperor. Paeha and Mamanim retire to summer palace. They no longer active to rule the empire although they still give advices to Ayu sometimes. Yuan still manage good relationship with Goryeo and other countries. The legacy of Empress Ki and Emperor Ta Hwan still can be seen until now.
