Empress Ki Heirs: Episode 19

Ta Hwan is in bad mood but he’s curious who is this Mr. Jekyll Hydes. He can’t find about his information online and he also never hears of him.

While at LOEL group Seung Nyang waves USB flashdisk in front of Joo Won. She will spill the secrets if Joo Won wants to cooperate with her. Joo Won is suspicious towards Seung Nyang’s sudden change.

“What do you want? Do you really want to join our side? Are you sure?” Joo Won asks her many questions.

“Yes, I’ll help you. After working with Ta Hwan I know his weaknesses now, he’s too naive and innocent. He won’t benefit me at all.”

Joo Won smiles a bit, he’s flustered Seung Nyang meets him just now to reveal his enemy’s weakness. While Seung Nyang taps her foots down just as she used to be. She just hopes Joo Won never finds her real intention. Joo Won copies all files on Seung Nyang’s flashdisk and all is well now for him. He even imagines him and Seung Nyang go to Ta Hwan’s office and announce they’re teammates now.

Seung Nyang asks him why he wants to destroy Yuan.

"Well, Yuan Group was actually my father’s company then Ta Hwan’s father bought it 20 years ago. Now it’s fitting for me to fight back what we belongs to,” Joo Won replies.

Seung Nyang nods while she thinks his thought is rather simple but twisted. If it’s acquired through legal means then it should be no problem, right, she thinks. But she won’t challenge Joo Won now because she sure the documents alone is enough to puts Joo Won off. She smiles at her own thought, while Joo Won mistakenly takes it as her smile toward him.

He then walks with Seung Nyang to go outside when suddenly Oh Young comes. She looks upset Seung Nyang is there with her boyfriend. She asks why Seung Nyang is always with her men. Seung Nyang says it’s for business but Oh Young doesn’t believe them. Joo Won talks to her to calm her down.

Young Do comes to Nam Hoon’s house as usual, they come home a bit early today because there’s no course and they only fill out administrations before entering university. Nam Hoon gives Young Do manga book to read to pass the time. While doing so, Young Do just remembers something about Nam Hoon’s new university. He remembers about his crush on high school, Eun Sang.

“Nam Hoon-ah, isn’t Cha Eun Sang also entering Hanyang?”
“Yeah, she takes communication major. Why?”
“Ah, too bad I don’t enter to Hanyang too. Now I can’t get close to her.”

Nam Hoon understands his friend and cheers him up but Young Do still looks regretful. Nam Hoon tells him that she’s not that great and she’s his niece from his father’s family. Young Do is shocked over this revelation and his brain trying to compute Nam Hoon’s sentence.

“How.. how can you be her uncle? How do you know it?”
“Yeah... I also just know not too long ago. She’s my niece but we have distant relation. You know her surname and my surname is the same right? Cha Eun Sang and Cha Nam Hoon,” Nam Hoon explains to Young Do.

Young Do looks confused and said, “Then you will be my uncle in-law if I’m with her? What an absurd thing?!”

Nam Hoon rolls his eyes and teases his future nephew in-law just in case Young Do marries his niece.

Tal Tal sees Seung Nyang alone in his cafe, she looks lonely so he comes up to her. Tal Tal asks why she doesn’t go to work and Seung Nyang says there’s no work anymore for her. He doesn’t understand and asks again if she’s fired but she says she resigns herself. But now she doesn’t understand why she feels bad for Ta Hwan. Tal Tal teases her despite that she still looks so pretty and why gives a damn to Ta Hwan when she can find a handsome man like him. Seung Nyang laughs and says she only considers him as KakaoTalk friend. Tal Tal pouts and says their friendship is long before KakaoTalk invented. They bicker back and forth just like BFFs.

Joong Won is fit again and goes to office as usual. He meets Ta Hwan in corridor. He has already considered Ta Hwan’s future. He gives Ta Hwan options, either going abroad to study and become top notch CEO or just stay there under his position. He tells him he only wants Ta Hwan to be a better CEO than him. Ta Hwan is a bit surprised by the options, but he’s delighted his half-brother also thinks about him. He chooses to study abroad because he feels he can improve his English skill and learn new things. He thanks Joong Won for giving him the opportunity.

Ta Hwan’s secretary says Mr. Jekyll Hydes has already been in the office and wants to meet him. He allows Mr. Jekyll Hydes to enter and he’s surprised to see Joo Won enters the room. He’s taken aback by Mr. Jekyll Hydes but he can’t be sure it’s Joo Won since he’s totally unlike Joo Won. Jekyll Hydes is a bit weirdo, smiling widely like a loon. He looks nervous and goofy, he tries to be funny but ends up being awkward with Ta Hwan.

“How do you know me, Mr. Jekyll Hydes? And do you know about Kim Joo Won?” Ta Hwan asks him.

Jekyll Hydes says he doesn’t know Joo Won but he knows about Yuan Group and wants to invest in it. His eyes flicker a bit, but he’s calm. Not showing anything. He speaks with a bit foreign accent, saying he studied in the US for a long time. Ta Hwan is a bit wary of him and asks man Ta Hwan is a bit wary of him and asks many things about the investment before tells him to contact him soon when the investment is ready. After the meeting, Ta Hwan offers to shake hands with Jekyll Hydes, but his hands are sweating and cold. Jekyll almost trips on the floor, trying to balance himself. Ta Hwan suppreses himself not to laugh and feels something is off with this man.

Ta Hwan goes home. He calls Oh Soo and asks whether he knows about Jekyll Hydes or if Joo Won has twins or split personality.

“Twins? Split personality? I don’t know but I heard he switced bodies with Seung Nyang before,” Oh Soo explains.
“Switched bodies??”
“Nah, maybe not literally. That doesn’t make sense. Maybe it’s just a rumor or his own fantasy.”

Oh Soo calms down his friend. He invites Ta Hwan for his birthday party at a club. Oh Soo assures Ta Hwan there will be many friends and hot young gals. Ta Hwan says he’s uninterested but maybe he’ll come for the last time before heading abroad and to congratulate him on his birthday.

Young Rang passes by and asks who has the upcoming birthday. While Ta Hwan explains Oh Soo’s 30th birthday on 18 October, she looks glum suddenly. Tears well up on her eyes, making Ta Hwan confused. He asks what happens with it, and Young Rang starts to bawl out as she recalls what happened 30 years ago. That’s the day when she gave birth to her first child, but she never even saw her child, not knowing whether it’s a boy or a girl because everyone says the baby was dead and she’s unconscious for almost a day.

“But on October that year you just married to Father, wasn’t it?” Ta Hwan asks curiously
“That’s not your father’s child but Sam Gwan’s child.” Young Rang says.

Ta Hwan’s eyes widen in shock, he’s puzzled by his mother’s sudden confession out of blue. Young Rang still cries, she at least wants to know if the baby really dead. She didn’t even tell it to anyone, except Ta Hwan’s father. When she hears Oh Soo’s birthday today, she can’t help but feeling sad over what happened in the past. Ta Hwan connects the dot and considers maybe, just maybe, Oh Soo is the child, even if it’s far fetched and seems just like a makjang drama. But who knows. Young Rang smiles at him, thanks him to understand and help her.

Ta Hwan comes to Oh Soo’s birthday party and goes clubbing. He sees Oh Young and Yound Do are there, looking happy with Oh Soo. Ta Hwan pretends he’s really fine in front of Oh Soo and congrats him genuinely. He goes to drink beers to stop his messy thoughts today.

Joo Won opens the files Seung Nyang gave him earlier. He looks satisfied today that he can fool Ta Hwan and gain Seung Nyang. But when he checks all the files and documents there, he starts to panic and pulls his hair out. No files about Yuan’s secrets as he expected. Instead, he reads Seung Nyang’s message:

“Joo Won, please don’t be mean to Ta Hwan and Yuan Group. And instead of destroying Yuan, why you don’t build your company bigger than Yuan... kekeke :P :P :P

P.S: If you still continue to bother Yuan, I’ll release your many embarassing videos :P”
Joo Won slams the table, clearly unhappy by it. But he can do nothing because Seung Nyang really has so many embarassing videos of him when he fooled around with many girls.

Seung Nyang goes to Ta Hwan’s office but his office is empty because Ta Hwan is out of town. She looks sad and clearly misses him. She still thinks if Joo Won not surrender first, she can’t approach Ta Hwan.

While Ta Hwan is outside Seoul to locate Oh Soo’s mother. He’s straight to the point of his intention and his own theory. But she keeps shut her mouth and refuses to say anything.

Ta Hwan receives letter of acceptance from MBA degree, London School of Economics, UK. He’s happy for a while, but he also feels empty because he will leave Seoul soon. He then says goodbye to everyone, except Seung Nyang. He can’t contact her anymore, his messages are ignored and his calls are never received. Even though he wants to say goodbye to her before going to London, he can’t call her. He finally contacts Nam Hoon and gives him a notebook. Ta Hwan tells him to give it directly to Seung Nyang.

At the airport, Ta Hwan is coming alone because his family is busy. He’s worried and nervous. He wonders if Seung Nyang will come and still tries to contact her. Until right before he boards the plane, he still holds out hope to see Seung Nyang. But she never comes. Ta Hwan’s plane takes off to London, while Seung Nyang just receives his notebook from Nam Hoon.
