Empress Ki Heirs: Episode 20 (Final Episode)

Ta Hwan takes a flight to London. But his heart still aches because he can’t say good bye to Seung Nyang. Meanwhile Seung Nyang just receives his notebook from Nam Hoon. She opens page by page, until she finds his letter.

“Nyangie-ah, how are you? Are you feeling well? If you’re well, I feel relieved. When you read this letter, I might be still waiting for you at the airport or I might have departed to London. My time with you, although short, is not something I can easily forget. Hope you’ll never forget me too. I don’t know what happens to you, but anytime, anytime you want, you can come to me again. I’ll open my arms to embrace you, hug you tightly and never let you go. You won’t believe it because you maybe think I’ll fall in love with beautiful ladies over there. But trust me, no one will replace you, the most beautiful woman to me. Although now I really worried, will I ever see you smiling back at me? Do you think of me? And when I come back to Korea, will you see me again? I sometimes afraid of myself, of my heart which I can’t control. But one thing for sure, my heart has been already yours, the moment you entered my life.”

Seung Nyang cries at his every word, every sentence. She feels sorry to him that she can’t do anything, not even contact him because she’s still afraid Joo Won really destroys Yuan Group.

She gets up and races to the airport with Nam Hoon, but of course the flight has already taken off. She hits Nam Hoon’s head because he doesn’t give the notebook earlier. Nam Hoon says that’s because he didn’t meet her sooner. She’s so pissed off of Nam Hoon because she misses the flight. Seung Nyang calls Ta Hwan’s phone but his phone is off, so she leaves voice message and text message instead.

Joong Won stares at Ta Hwan’s desk. He’s already missing his younger brother. Then his eyes pay attention on a piece of paper on the desk. He notices Ta Hwan writes furiously almost unreadable when he’s in high-spirit or when write important information. He checks it’s crawling notes on Oh Soo and birth secrets. He wonders what birth secret and the relation with Oh Soo. He asks his secretary to finds out about it.

But his secretary tells him something more shocking, just now Joo Won voluntarily goes to police station and reports his crimes, including data hacking, fraud, and impersonation. Joo Won admits he suggests Bel Ami to hack Yuan Group data and Mr. Jekyll Hydes’ impersonation. Joong Won looks satisfied with it.

Sam Gwan asks Seung Nyang and Nam Hoon why they just come home late. Nam Hoon tells his father that Seung Nyang is sick, heartsick because her love going to London. Sam Gwan teases Seung Nyang by humming a song he created impromptu.
“London, London, wanna to go there
London, London, to go after him”
Seung Nyang tells how Sam Gwan is not sensitive over something like that. But Sam Gwan continues to mock her, making Seung Nyang more annoyed. Sam Gwan then tells her to just chase him or move on, there’s no middle way. He then invites his children to drink soju and drink till the end.

Secretary Kim informs Joong Won about latest news. It seems Ta Hwan was working secretly to unveil a past mystery and the shocking truth is Oh Soo is Young Rang’s son.

“What? What are you said? My stepmother is Oh Soo’s real mother?” Joong Won is in disbelief.
“Oh Soo was adopted and it seems until now he never knows about the truth,” Secretary Kim explains.

Joong Won confirms it with Chae Young Rang but they don’t have solid evidence yet and Oh Soo’s mother, Young Ja seems reluctant to admit the truth. So they drives off to meet Oh Soo’s mother on a countryside near Seoul. Choi Young Ja is at home and she’s scared when seeing Joong Won and Young Rang. Young Rang calms her down and promises she won’t snatch Oh Soo from her. She only wants the truth. Young Ja is reluctant but she wants to talk only with Young Rang. Joong Won waits outside while wondering why his family is so convoluted that it’s so hard to draw a family tree and keep straight on who’s who.

Young Ja tells her story that 30 years ago, the Chairman, Joong Won and Ta Hwan’s father, asked her to take care a baby. The Chairman would provide money and facilities for her if only she keep the baby well and never told the story to anyone. But then she married to Oh Young’s father so she didn’t need to worry about Oh Soo’s real parents and she really loves Oh Soo like her own son. She gives Young Rang Oh Soo’s birth certificate and makes her promise to not take Oh Soo from her.

Young Rang is still in shock, trying to understand all the situations. She looks like struck by the lightning, knowing that it’s her own husband who hid the secret and even said her son is dead. Still she’s thankful to Young Ja to take care of his son. Young Ja tells her not to tell anything to Oh Soo and she will tell him herself.

Ta Hwan arrives in London with heavy heart. But then he checks his phone and lights up when seeing Seung Nyang’s message. He calls Seung Nyang asking if she already miss him.

“Ta Hwan-ah, I’m sorry because my sudden behaviour. I think it’s the best for you. Now Joo Won won’t ever disturb you again. And I realize the best for us is when we’re together.”
“What is sorry? I knew you would eventually come back to me. Do you miss me already?”

Seung Nyang answers yes and that 2 years is too long to wait for her. He teases her to just go to London and they can live together here. She scoffs that he’s so pervy once he’s not in Korea.

Ta Hwan also calls his mother, asking about the investigation on birth secret. His mother’s voice is hoarse, saying she cries too much last night. Ta Hwan is concerned but Young Rang says she’s okay, she’s just too happy to find her real son. Ta Hwan is also happy because that means Oh Soo is his brother too now. Young Rang gives him advice to always look after his health, study hard, and not dating too much. Ta Hwan says how he can dating while his love is in Korea.

Oh Soo and Young Do meet their mother at the countryside. Young Ja looks slightly lost and worried. She grabs Oh Soo’s hand and tells him privately. He is happy to meet his mother and asks what happened.

Young Ja tells Oh Soo everything about his birth secret. Oh Soo is in shock, unable to say anything. This is just too much for him. Tears trickled down his face. Young Ja hugs him and says no matter what he’s still her son, blood-related or not. Young Do also comes and hugs him.

“Hyung, you’re still my family,” Young Do says with smile.

Oh Soo thanks them for everything, but it’s just too much for him. He is still in denial.

“How so? How do I suddenly become their son? Doesn’t it make sense?”

Meanwhile Seung Nyang decides to go after Ta Hwan to London. She can study fashion there to pursue her dream as fashion designer and maybe work part-time too. Ta Hwan is overjoyed knowing Seung Nyang will come. She finally comes to London and Ta Hwan meets her there.

They hug tightly as if never hug before. Ta Hwan also gives forehead kiss to her before they kiss each other the French way. Ta Hwan invites her to his apartment at Baker Street. His apartment is pretty spacious but quite messy. Seung Nyang mocks his apartment like a shipwreck.

“That’s why I invite you here. You can help me to clean.” Ta Hwan says
“Aish, Messy Guy! Do you think I’m a housekeeper?” she asks.
“Yes, you’re the one who can keep my heart tidy,” he replies.
“There you go, so cheesy. By the way, what you usually do here? Do you adapt well?”
“Well, I can speak English better than you now. I go to campus every weekdays except Friday and I play and watch football match every weekend. The weather is colder here, of course I like Korea more but it’s not bad.”
“Seems like you enjoy being here, huh?”
“I enjoy it more from now on, because I’m with you.”

Ta Hwan and Seung Nyang live well in London. Sometimes they eat dinner together or have a cup of coffee. Sometimes watching concerts or just walking in the park. Sometimes Ta Hwan will buy groceries at supermarket while Seung Nyang will cook the dinner.

They also visit Korea every year. When they visit Korea together for a short holiday Seung Nyang just knows that Oh Soo is their half brother now. Seung Nyang goes to her father, Sam Gwan to protest.

“Aboeji, you always remind me not to do sex before marriage. But what? You already has son when you’re just graduated from high school? Unbelievable!”

Sam Gwan’s eyes are wavering and he’s stuttering.

“But.. but Seung Nyang, I also just know about it. Young Rang never even tell me. Oh Soo is also more handsome than me. How would I know? I never imagine it.”
“Augh, to think that I dated him before... Aigoo, I get goosebumps just to think about it. Glad that Ta Hwan found out about it.”

Sam Gwan apologizes to his daugher because it’s really something out of blue, out of his control. He suggests she marries him soon, so something like that won’t happen. Seung Nyang tells him it’s up to them to decide marriage or not.

“Then what happens to Oh Soo? What did you do to him?”
“Well, I just acknowledge him as my son. Young Rang did the same. That’s all.”

Seung Nyang sighs at his father, but she also loves her father so much so she can’t be angry to him.

2 years later....

Ta Hwan and Seung Nyang is getting married. They invites friends, families and relatives. They also choose Oh Soo to be best man. Young Rang, Sam Gwan, Joong Won, Oh Young, Young Do and Nam Hoon are in attendance. The attendants dress sharp and pretty.

They’re all in awe with the groom and the bride who look the most handsome and beautiful today. The music start playing. Seung Nyang walks down the aisle for the first time with Sam Gwan at her side as her father. Ta Hwan looks at his bride lovingly. The minister then leads the pledge. They then make vows and exchange rings and kiss. They are officially married from now on.

6 years later...

Nam Hoon becomes top surgeon at the best hospital in Seoul. Young Do becomes businessman and he’s working on a big project at his company. Oh Soo chooses to be full-time novel writer and date Oh Young. Joong Won proposes Gong Shil and they plan to marry soon. Tal Tal becomes top-notch lawyer in South Korea and will marry wedding planner from Secret Hotel. While Joo Won is in mental hospital, diagnosed with OCD, multiple personality disorder and severe depression.

Seung Nyang works as fashion designer and she’s so busy now. Ta Hwan is in charge to their 2 children while also playing video game. While he plays game, the two daughters plays with his wallet. They see an old, rugged photo of him and Seung Nyang. Ta Hwan snaps the picture soon and sits with his two daugters, Ji Hyun and Ji Hye. He explains that’s their wedding picture. The eldest Ji Hyun asks why the picture is rugged and he answers because he keeps it on his wallet everyday to always remember their mother. He then shows his daughters more pictures of their family on his phone.

Seung Nyang passes by and tells him not to slack off and iron the clothes.

“What kind of husband just sitting there playing mindless game all day when his wife is pregnant their child? Help me to iron these clothes!” Seung Nyang gives order to Ta Hwan.

Ta Hwan is used to her nagging, moreover she’s 7 months old pregnant so he has to help her more. Ji Hyun asks Ta Hwan out of curiousity.

“Appa, when Omma give birth to a baby will you give the name? What will be the baby's name?”
“Hmm... Ji Won?”
