Empress Ki Heirs: Episode 5

Empress Ki Heirs
Episode 5

Last scene from episode 4, Chae Young Rang tells Ta Hwan about Joong Won’s plan. After hearing it, Ta Hwan thinks for awhile and assures his mother that everything will be alright.

At the conference room, some of the directors are bickering regarding the company’s financial state and its new competitors. Joong Won tries to appease the directors by telling them that Ta Hwan has an idea. Then, he looks and smirks at his younger brother as if challenging him. Ta Hwan looks at Joong Won suspiciously. He knows that his position will be endangered even though he is one of the largest shareholders in the company, if he will not bite his brother’s bait. Then, he confidently tells the Board about his new project plan in Jeju Island with the help of the Zeus Hotel Group. The directors, including Joong Won, look surprised on what they had just heard and start to question how that could be possible.

He tells them, “All of you might be thinking that this will be too costly for the company but I assure you that this project will place the company again on top. I will do my best for the welfare of this company. Please trust in me.” Then, he gently bows in front of the directors.

The directors like the sincerity in his eyes and finally approve the idea. The meeting ended.

Ta Hwan bravely confronts his older brother.
“Hyung, are you satisfied? Is this what you want?” he asks.
Joong Won glares at him and says, “Just do what you had promised to the Board and I’ll do mine.”
Joong turns around and goes to his office. Unknown to Ta Hwan, Joong Won has been spying him for years.

Then, Ta Hwan tells to himself sadly while looking at his older brother walking away from him.
“I miss my hyung... But if this is what you want, then I’m going to give it to you.”
Ta Hwan goes to his office.
On his way to his office, he bumps into their family’s driver, Cha Sam Gwan.
“Ahjusshi Sam?”
“Ah, Ta Hwan-ah!” Sam Gwan exclaimed in excitement. “Woah, I haven’t recognized you. Look at you. You look very well after these years and you look manly man now with those muscles. Hahaha!”
Looking shy, he replies, “Ah, I have been learning Wushu these past months that’s why I have those.”

Ta Hwan treats him as his second father so he happily invites him to have some coffee at his office which Sam Gwan refuses at first but later on accepts his invitation. Sam Gwan teases him about girls. Ta Hwan just laughs it off then he thought of something. He shyly asks Sam Gwan to give him pieces of advice on how to court a woman. Sam Gwan, also treats him as his own son, tells him his secrets in courting a woman. Ta Hwan listens attentively.

At a cafe, Seung Nyang and Manager Gong, the owner of the cafe, discusses something about the shop’s tax issues. When Ta Hwan appears from nowhere and interrupts their discussion. Seung Nyang looks surprised seeing him again. Ta Hwan cutely smiles at her but frowns at Manager Gong.

She serves Ta Hwan’s order. He looks at Manager Gong suspiciously then to Seung Nyang. He leans closer and whispers to her to stay away from that him because he looks a dangerous person. She looks at him suspiciously and asks him why he is saying those things. He tries to remain composed and tells her that he wants to protect his friend. She repeats the word “FRIEND”, looking annoyed. She strongly defends her boss that he is an honest and upright man and also good taxpayer.

“Ah, before I forget. I came here to offer you a job.”
“What job?”
“To be my assistant.”
“What?! Your assistant?!”
“Yes. I’ll be busy for these coming months because I’ll be starting a project.” He leans closer to her and says, “That’s why I want you.”
Seung Nyang looks startled. “You...you want me?”
“Yes, I want you... I want you to be part of my team. Someone who is enthusiastic and hardworking, like you.”
She looks annoyed and tells him that she will think about it.

At the Choi’s mansion, Oh Young asks Oh Soo about Ta Hwan. He jokingly tells her to forget about him and just date other chaebol guys. She looks at him sadly and tells him that Ta Hwan is her first love and no one will replace him in her heart. Oh Soo just stares at her sadly.

It’s already midnight when Nam Hoon goes home. He tiptoes as he enters the house when a strong hand grabs him from the back.

After a few minutes, Nam Hoon wakes up but in a strange position. He is pinned on the wall with a lot of tapes on him and then he looks around. He sees her sister in front of him. Seung Nyang smirks at his brother and asks him a lot of questions such as why he is late, where did he go, whose with him, what did he do, etc. He tries to answer but she continues to nag at him nonstop. Finally, she runs out of words to say. He makes a sigh and asks her if he can finally talk now and she nods at him. He tells her that he is busy doing his school project and at the same time preparing a school presentation. She sees the sincerity in his brother’s eyes and tells him that he believe him. When she goes to her room, he calls her attention to release him from being pinned on the wall. She innocently smiles and hurriedly helps him. As he enters his room, he teases his sister to watch at her age, find his man and get married. She yells and pouts at his brother, who hurriedly runs to his room.

On the next day, Oh Young surprisingly visits Ta Hwan at his office. She tells him that there is something in him that changed. He smiles at her and assures her that he is still the same. They chat for awhile about business matters. It’s almost lunch time so he invites her to a lunch date which she happily accepts.

Just outside the company, Seung Nyang decides to accept Ta Hwan’s offer and goes to his office when she sees him and Oh Young going out of the company building and laughing together. She stares at them blankly and feels that something’s wrong inside her. Now, she is having second thoughts on Ta Hwan’s offer. As she walks away, she sees a familiar face. She sees Oh Soo from afar, who is busy on his phone, walking towards her direction. She looks worried.
