Casino War: Episode 2

Kang Mu Yeong feels his head is particularly heavy. His boss’ saying is still ringing on his head that Kim Hang Ah is a double agent. Double agent for North and South. He tries to recount what happened last night.

Flashback 11.25 PM

He’s talking with Hang Ah while they’re still aware of the surroundings, they try to hear and notice any strange movement from the VIP Room. After 2 and half hours, one by one starts to come out from the room. It comes to big showdown, Oh Soo and Lee Gun. At that moment, Mu Yeong and Hang Ah comes inside and catch them red-handed.

Oh Soo and his friend, Jin Sung tries to run off but Hang Ah reacts quickly and blocks them to escape from the casino.

While Mu Yeong catches Lee Gun and his girlfriend Mi Young. Mu Yeong and Hang Ah charge them with habitual gambling law and give them to local authority who will contact Korean Police. After that they go to hotel bar and celebrate their succesful operation. Mu Yeong drinks whiskey while Hang Ah wants cocktail.

08.00 AM
Mu Yeong can’t remember much more than that, he’s too drunk last night. He wonders if there’s sleeping pill too in his drink. He remembers fuzzily walking and stumbling to get into his room last night. He can’t believe Hang Ah leaves him and rips off the secret. But it’s more painful to him to realize one thing for her. He goes to search the documents again and he can’t find the documents from police after their operation last night. No passport, visa, cards. No single note of her either. Only a pair of shoes and single dress of her left in the room.

“North Koreans are surely efficient,” he talks to himself.

He takes cold shower that morning to wakes him up completely. While he takes shower, a phone call from his boss is coming. But he can’t reach it. So he calls back his boss, Jeong Hak.

“Her phone is completely off so we can’t detect her by GPS. Stay alert, we may have news about her soon. We can’t lose her again.” Jeong Hak says.
“Right. Understand.” Mu Yeong says in low voice.

11.20 AM

Hang Ah wanders on the streets of Macau, posing as tourist. With sunglasses and different hairstyle, she hopes to fool anyone enough before she has time to flee. She remembers what happened last night and feels sorry to Mu Yeong, but she has to have firm resolve on it.

Flashback 02.30 AM

Mu Yeong drinks a lot and he doesn’t even recognize Hang Ah. She slips sleeping pill to his drink then let him to back to his room by himself. She has enough time to pack her belongings and gives it to her friend outside hotel. By the time he backs to the room, he smells full of alcohol and stumbles into the bed. All Hang Ah does is taking off his and her clothes.

“He has nice body,” she notes.

Hang Ah sits on a bench outside a cathedral and plays her sunglasses around. She giggles when she remembers his body last night. She takes off their clothes as if they did something sexy, but they’re not even close to do that.

“I feel bad for him. Is it really the best I can do?”

But then she feels it’s not right and focus on her mission.

“Ah, it’s not right. Why do I need to think about him?” she says to herself.

She gets up and goes to another destination. Jeong Hak calls Mu Yeong again, this time they get weak signal from Hang Ah’s GPS. Mu Yeong is told to follow her, secretly but quickly.

“She’s just passing Cathedral of Macau. Quickly follow her, I’ll guide you.” Jeong Hak orders Mu Yeong.

Mu Yeong readies himself and uses an earpiece at his right ear. He follows Jeong Hak’s guide and goes to follow her route by taxi. But then the GPS signal is off again, causing him to curse. By the time they get new signal, it’s already in the evening. Mu Yeong feels cold and hungry, only ate porridge as lunch.

Jeong Hak is coming to Macau and calls Mu Yeong to pick him up. Mu Yeong dashes to the airport and finds his boss with 2 other guys. Jeong Hak wastes no time to get down to their mission: find Hang Ah as soon as possible.

While Hang Ah is on an abandoned factory, seeing one men is beaten to pulp and the other gets his mouth strapped so he can’t speak. The beaten man is surprisingly Oh Soo, while Hang Ah sighs near him. She tells them to move out, the car is ready outside. But Oh Soo is too weak to stand on his own, making her to help him. She drops them off to a car outside the building and then turns on her phone. She is sure South Koreans will follow her anyway, so she doesn’t need to fear anything. She also enters the car and the familiar face greets her from the driver seat. It’s Lee Gun or Yoo Gun, whatever his real name is.

“Where I should drive this car, lady?” Lee Gun asks her
“Since when you call me lady, huh?”
“Since last night. I almost bursted out laughing when you walk hand in hand with that man. Who is he?”
“You will know him. Soon,” Hang Ah vaguely answers.

This doesn’t go unnoticed for NIS team and Jeong Hak orders Mu Yeong to follows them. Mu Yeong, as loyal as usual, receives his boss order and goes to their site. The car starts walking slowly, Mu Yeong is above them and then the car runs in full speed, causing Mu Yeong to race with the car and eventually loses. But fortunately the GPS is still on and Mu Yeong calls his boss for back up. It seems the car that brings Hang Ah and others headed to an old house near ferry terminal. Jeong Hak makes a quick plan after a while.

They go to the said house but there’s no car in front of it. Hang Ah and the others have already entered the house. The NIS team is expecting it to be in heated atmosphere and preparing their gun. But surprisingly there’s party at the living room. But one man particularly is vicious and guarded. Jeong Hak seems to know that man.

“Long time no see, Myong Guk. It’s strange to see you here, isn’t it?”
“Applause to you for coming here yourself. I don’t need to introduce myself right? Here’s have a drink and enjoy the party.”

Ri Myong Guk, commander of North Korean elite force invites them to drink champagne and smiles viciously.

“BRAKKK!!” There’s loud voice coming from inside the house.

Everyone tries to guess what sound is that. Two men, seem trying to escape comes from the cellar at the basement. Oh Soo and Jin Sung is having scars all over their face and almost no energy anymore. Without doubt, he looks like he will passed out anytime. Mu Yeong is shocked to see them battered and tries to help them. But Myong Guk blocks him and tells him to back off.

“What did you do to them? Aren’t you on your right mind? Oh right, the North’s infamous violence,” Jeong Hak remarks.
“What do you expect me to say? Should I say that this battered guy is actually a son of North Korean traitor?” Myong Guk replies.
“NO!! My father wasn’t a traitor and he’s only a father who adopted me. I don’t know anything more than that.” Oh Soo tells them pitifully.
“You crossed your line, Ri Myong Guk! Beside torture and violence of our own civilian, what kind of thing did you do to violate his human rights?”
“It’s not human rights violation. It’s investigation for truth and justice. Besides, he is a criminal in your country, right?” Myong Guk coldly tells them.

Myong Guk and Jeong Hak is in heated debate. They wouldn’t back off when it comes to their own countries. Mu Yeong is uncomfortable with the current situation and asks Myong Guk if Hang Ah is also here. Myong Guk seems satisfied with the question, clearly waiting for this oppurtunity.

“Hey, Kim Hang Ah!!” Myong Guk screams.

Kim Hang Ah comes out while pointing a gun. Her eyes are on fire.

South Koreans team automatically point their guns to her. Myong Guk laughs maniacally. While Mu Yeong slowly puts down his gun and gets closer to Hang Ah.

“Why did you do this to me? How easy for you to break my trust? I trust you as my friend, as South Korean team, now you come back as North’s team. Why did you con me easily like that? How I wish I would never met you if I know the outcome!” Mu Yeong tells her.

Hang Ah doesn’t face him directly. She puts poker face and tries to hide her emotion. While Myong Guk notices the situation.

“You two seem to act out a drama. Kim Hang Ah, if I know you’ll be entangled with this guy I won’t send you.” Myong Guk raises his voice.
“No. I don’t entangled myself with him.”
“I don’t necessarily see it, the way I see it you may betray our country and Dear Leader. Prove the point. Now you choose the punishment, in prison camp or shoot him to death,”

Mu Yeong’s eyes widen. Myong Guk tells her to shoot him right now so she won’t be in prison camp. Kim Hang Ah takes a deep breath.

“Send me to prison camp,” Hang Ah says.
“No, shoot me right now,” Mu Yeong tells her.

Hang Ah is in disbelief.

“Hey, what a nonsense!” Jeong Hak screams to Mu Yeong.
“Crazy guy.” Myong Guk remarks.
